Pines Club Notes Prelim Final 2010
Well done to our club officials for the work done in the staging of the two finals days at our ground but today it’s a change of venue as we contest the Prelim Final on what was for a time our home ground, Frankston Park. Four seasons ago (2007) Eric Bell Reserve was deemed unplayable due to drought conditions and our home games were played here at Dolphin Land so we could say that our players know this ground. Our last reserves Prelim Final was in 2004 and although beaten by our opponent today in Mt Eliza back then, we are set to avenge that game today giving our reserves their first GFL since 1994 (Premiers). On Saturday of last, in weather conditions not well received at finals time, our reserves played their best game so far this season and were victors over a somewhat rugged YCW who, with the scores even at the main break, could only add one point to their tally as we added nine goals come the final siren. The senior games experience of Macka (4 goals) and Stubba (3) came to the fore. There was no a-hootin’ and a-hollerin’ from Andy in addressing his players and that is a sure sign of a coach having confidence in his team. Gary Connolly has been re-appointed as our senior coach for 2011 but applicants are sought for asst snr coach, reserves and thirds coaches. Have a chat with Gary on 0417234122. There are also many varied and interesting volunteer positions available for next year and these are website listed. If you’re interested just contact the club or come along to our AGM. We are also seeking someone to video our games next year and to also take photos at games or around the club.
