It's sudden death for our Under 18s, taking on Pennant Hills. It was low-scoring early, with both clubs playing hard, physical football. But two late goals to the Bombers gave them the edge at the first change, with the Bombers holding a 13-point quarter time lead. But the second quarter didn't go to plan, with the Bombers unable to manage a goal. A free kick in the face of goal to the Demons straight after a goal turned the lead into a deficit; and at the long break the Bombers found themselves 7 points behind.
A goal in the opening minute of the third term kept the Bombers within striking distance, but scoring was to be hard going during a tight and tough third term. A cross-wind made conditions difficult, and intense defence by both sides was hard to penetrate. But a goal and a point in the final minute of the term broke the deadlock, with the Bombers being 7 points clear at the last change.
The game remained in the balance during a thrilling final term, the ball travelling from end to end. But a couple of clever snaps from the boundary line in front of the scoreboard tilted the balance North Shore's way, and although the closeness of the margin was enough to keep the celebrations on hold until after the final siren, the Bombers had enough of a buffer to ensure victory.
The result keeps North Shore's finals campaign alive in the Under 18s. Next week the Bombers will take on East Coast Eagles at Blacktown on Sunday, where they will be playing off for a grand final berth.
Final Score - North Shore 8.9 (57) def Pennant Hills 6.10 (46)
