The Lismore Swans have produced an outstanding performance in very windy conditions to annihilate Ballina in sensational form. The Lismore Swans produced some of their best football to shock all spectators and take a 113 point win through to the Grand Final.
The Swans kicked with the strong breeze in the first quarter and capiltalised kicking 10 brilliant goals for the term to Ballina's 2 goals putting up the challenge and the lead by 51 points at the first break.
The second quarter the Swans knew they had to step up against the breeze restricting Ballina to just one goal while kicking 3 of their own. This quarter broke Ballina's back as the Swans choked their attacking moves as the Swans led by 72 at half time. This margin seemed too large for a come back.
In the third the Swans had an excellent 10 minute passage during the quarter however the Bombers dug deep to really put a challenge on the table as the Ballina restricted the Swans to only 4 goals with the breeze while kicking 2 of their own. The Swans lead extended to 90 points at the final break.
Once again in the final term the Bombers dug deep early and had a real crack however the Swans finished the game strong kicking 6 goals to 3 against the breeze to take an enormous 113 point win. Final score Lismore 24.23-167 to Ballina 8.6-54.
Goals went to George Massa 7, Darren Moncrieff 5, Jak Johnson 4, Eddie Burton 3, 2 each to Wesley Seewald and Dean Webb, and 1 to Daniel Moloney. The Swans copped a big blow at the end of the game as Daniel Moloney was taken to hospital after a big clash in the final 5 minutes of the game.
Best on the day were Alex Aitken, Daniel Moloney, Eddie Burton, Rhys Lavery, Jason Bevan, George Massa
The Swans now need to take their recent form into next weekends big game, the Summerland AFL Grand Final at Ballina's Fripp Oval. Carn the Swannies!
