With Ben Matthews back in and no excuses Maroochydore were jumped by their Gold Coast visitors from the start of the Elimination Final and despite at times drizzly conditions, the Burleigh Bombers maintained their lead for the entire 120 minutes to win the chance to play our Tigers for a spot in the Granny.
The Bombers won only 2 less matches this season than Sandgate, Maroochydore and Palmy and have gone under the radar and probably not respected by their first two finals opponents but we know that Noosa respect this fierce team with goers and height in key positions in what will shape up to a beauty of a Preliminary Final
The venue will most likely be Fisherman's Road - yet to be confirmed - and our boys will use this week to re-group and work hard to put in a great account of themselves in this must win match.
Each season you think of the faces and names that make up the unique nature of each year's group - last year it was the Hammonds, Tyrells, Hicks, Babsy's and our regulars who were probably beaten by a better or more seasoned Palmy. As that group moved on you think of our diehards in Cubby, Trompfy, Bocky, Bova and many more, along with those who have brought new attributes in Brainy, Pagey, Lukey Matthews and the Springs, Boydles, McKittricks and others.
I think our 2010 group has some unfinished business that starts this Saturday and I believe that when we remember this team in the years to come, that it will be both positive and respectful of their efforts and achievements.
