Words from Coach Feutrill to our Playing Group: No sugar coating, Saturday’s game and effort was simply not to the standard the coaching group or players set themselves to represent our fantastic footy club. We have set ourselves the task to make amends this week! We know that, despite not playing finals, we always have something to play for when we represent Whitefriars Football Club, OUR CLUB!
As a collective group we need to dig our heels in and stand and fight on Saturday to ensure that we finish the season with our best effort. It will be a great opportunity to travel down to Peninsula together in the bus and we have a perfect time to really forge our determination for the game. Let’s get off that bus on Saturday and look for the contest, be willing to take chances and above everything else make sacrifice for each other.
The game will be special as it is Gerard and Nathan’s last games for the club, both have been outstanding contributors over the last 10 years and they are now at the end of their journey as Friar Players. It comes quickly the end so you guys who are the current custodians make the most of it, be proud of your efforts and be proud of your club!!
Go Friars, Stephen

We started well with our onballers getting plenty of the footy, although their backline was on top and giving them plenty of run. During the first quarter, our forwards were pushing too far up the ground, limiting our goal opportunities in the first quarter.
In the second half, once we got our forward structure back in place, we were able to apply forward pressure, ultimately resulting in scoreboard pressure. In turn, we opened up Bulleen-Temp with our run and ran out winners. Special mention to our backline, who did a great job keeping them goalless in the second half.
A second pleasant surprise from Saturday was moving to second on the ladder. It is essential we put in a good performance and take the win against Peninsula to give us a second chance once finals commence.

The Under 19s made the road trip to Old Westbourne last Saturday. While not the best result for the year, the 19’s did have the opportunity to wear the brown and white heritage jumpers, an experience I’m told they enjoyed.
This week marks the final game for the Under 19’s who have had an up and down season. If you’re in the Whitefriars area (particularly if you need to vote in the seat of Menzies in the Federal Election), be sure to check out a very spirited bunch of boys – the future of the Mighty Friars.

The thirds last week came up against a really good outfit in Banyule. We were simply outplayed & outrun by a much better side on the day.
In saying that, I do not believe that they were a 20 goal better side – our skills & decision making let us down. How a team can win 1 quarter of football & still lose by 150 points is beyond believe!
It has been an up & down season for the 3rds. For the last game of the season I ask the players one thing. "Please Turn Up To Play FOOTBALL!" Let’s finish off the season with a win & a chance to sing the song on last time in 2010.
Go Friars, Ben Fisher
