THE funeral for Maroochy-Northshore Roos stalwart Neil Upton will be
held from noon at the Maroochydore Baptist Church, at the end of Wises
Road, on Monday.
Upton, who held every official position at some point during his
35-year association with the club, lost his long battle with cancer on
Tuesday.
The 82-year-old was one of the inaugural inductees in the Sunshine
Coast AFL Hall of Fame in late June. As a further honour, he was one of
eight Hall of Fame members to be bestowed with “Legend” status.
After his funeral on Monday, there will be a gathering to remember
Upton at Maroochy Northshore Football Club, Fishermans Road,
Maroochydore.
The main ground at the complex was christened Neil Upton Oval in May
this year as a token of recognition for his tireless service to the
club.
