Pines Club Notes Round Eighteen 2010
An ambulance seen at a game is not nice and as we go to print we hope that young thirds player Nat Swanborough, son of Pines trainer Peter, is ok. Windy wins v Mornington for our seniors and also our reserves who can now look at playing finals. Must win today though. Fifteen flags, six runner ups and once known as the Mean Machine, a name coined by your scribe in this column way back in 1983 and quickly picked up by the media, our reserves now for the first time since 2004 (3rd) are a finals contender. Coach Andy Clarke played in three of those prem teams 1989,92,94 (our last) so how proud would he be to take his team to a flag. A big bulk thank you to all our club workers this year and we look forward to your assistance next season. We also must without any doubt thank our sponsors and we look to your continued involvement. The Pines Past Players Group are also thanked for their input. Magical sort of lot aren’t they, didn’t like losing games either and made damn sure of it. The Group will be holding a luncheon in the rooms tomorrow for past and present players but there’s a $20 entry fee for non members of the Group. Guest speaker will be our senior coach. See you at noon. Hopeful continuing better years for Gary with his team and Jason Morse is thanked for his work with our thirds. Don’t forget the ‘Minute to Win it’ show tonight back at home. $10 gets the door open for you. Got an email from Andy ‘The Tout’ Peyton in Japan wishing all well and best of luck in the finals. His team, the Tokyo Goannas is fairing well. Email address is avail. Today at long last Reegan Stubbs gets to play his 175th club Life Member game. Well done Stubba. Today we meet confidently at Chelsea.
