The sunny conditions on Sunday and some
warmth in the sun certainly signaled that spring is on its way, and of course
spring means finals time. The final round of football was completed last Sunday
for the Under 14’s through to Under 16’s there are now only finals left. Last
weekend we had our Under 12 Whites, coached by Ben Crowe narrowly miss a spot
in the Preliminary Final losing to Ajax by 4 points. The Under 11 Whites
coached by Greg Ward were a little more fortunate defeating Highett by 45
points and earning a passage straight through to the Grand Final on Sunday
August 22nd Well done
to both teams and good luck to the Under 11 Whites.
Whilst the season ended on Sunday for the
Under 14 Blues, Under 15’s and Under 16 Blues the Under 14 Gold and Under 16
Gold progress to the finals next Sunday. Both teams face sudden death finals
and we wish both of the teams the best of luck for this week. This Saturday is
the last round of the season for the Youth Girls before they progress to
another finals series under first year coach Alicia Eva.
A very big thank you must go to Greg
Miller. Greg has taken over the Knights News for season 2010, revamped the club
website but wait there’s more. Greg offered to take the club photos for this
season. Sunday saw Greg give up most of his day to ensure that every team had a
photo for the 2010 season. Late comers were photographed so they can be
inserted later, all done with amazing patience. Everyone at the club should be
very pleased we have someone who gives as much time as Greg. When you next see
Greg don’t forget to say “THANKYOU”.
A few dates are still important as we move
towards the end of the season. The committee is already planning for 2011.
- Coaches
and Team mangers meeting date has been scheduled for Tuesday night August
24th. Venue and agenda will be sent closer to the date. If
there are any topics coaches and team managers would like covered please
email Mick Ahearn or Lewis Bearman;
- Grading
selection review meeting will be scheduled after the season has finished
and finals have been played.
Finally I would like to welcome Roy Fish
and Kristy Stefanac onto the committee from now. Both Roy and Kristy have been
contributors to our club for a considerable time and we are pleased that they
have agreed to join us. Roy and Mick Ahearn will be redeveloping the football
operations, coaches and team managers support roles and Kristy will be responsible
for club merchandise which will include an extended product range and online
ordering in 2011. Please thank both Kristy and Roy for their commitment to your
club. I am still keen to hear from anyone else who may be interested in joining
our committee.
To all players and parents please ensure
that the reputation of the club is one of competitiveness and fairness both on
and off the ground. Parent behavior is the cornerstone of a successful club. At
all times ensure we respect our opposition and the umpires. The league will be
vigorously enforcing parental controls during the finals
Please remember to keep up the good work on
and off the ground and enjoy your participation in the EMJFC.
Go Knights
