The Family Day last Sunday was a huge success, with great support by players and families.
Thanks to Sara and Mat for the wonderful initiative they had with initially
planning the day and then the excellent job they did with fielding teams
of egos, memories and hidden talents! A great day was had by all.
Thanks to Chris Gilbertson, for cooking the BBQ all day and to Raelene Smith
and Kathy Lang for their help in the Kitchen. Thanks also to Pete Wight who
kept the boys well hydrated at the stubby shed.
The Junior Colts had a win with
Robe putting up a good fight in one of our tougher games for the season. Duckys award went to Luke Green, Pete
Walters - Rory Whittaker, John Cavanagh Real Estate - Dylan Montouri, Gary Nilsson - Brad Wight, HFC Ladies Committee -
James Gilbertson and Hath Sp & Rec Steak - Angus Altschwager.
The Senior Colts got it together
after half time and put in a good performance in their last home game for the
year. Thanks to the 6 Junior Colts who
filled in and I wish them all the best in the finals. Sam Telfer had another
good game and Sam Waring may have found a new position in defence. Award
winners were Cameron Slape (Seebohm), Tom Waring (KAOS Video), Tom Schultz (Gary Nilsson), Jack Skeer (HFC Ladies
Committee) and Tom Chant (Hath Sp & Rec).
WOW! What
a great game of football in the B Grade last week. We went from a team
completely outplayed at the 'Burr" to a team that was determined, hard at
the footy and prepared to work hard for each other ! We were undermanned which
meant we again had to rely on senior colts, also Fatz offered to play 2 games
and Becky helped us out (He was back for Sundays legend game but was willing to
help us out). Thanks to all these guys. Your effort it is very
appreciated. Pegs was controlling the game from the middle and the spritely
young, ever reliable Matt Ballantyne was battling hard against probably the
best B grade ruckman in the competition, Jono Moran. All the colts again played
very good games and Tommy Waring's mark and goal was a great reward for his
hard work on the training track. Award winners were Tom Pegler
(Beaurepaires), Kieren Agnew (Millicent 4WD System), Sam Telfer (Dave Reily’s
Panel & Paint) and Matt Ballantyne (Grand Hotel) A very
good team effort all round but today is a new day and we can’t afford to let
the 'Tigers' get the jump on us like they did in our earlier encounter
this year. So let's all work hard, play for our teammates and finish the year
with a win. Good Luck !
A good win
for the A Grade last Saturday against Robe at home. After a slow start we
managed to work our way back in to the game and take control to record a much
needed win. After quarter time we played some exciting footy using the
ball well, finding targets and working hard for each other. Our third
quarter was our best for the day providing many highlights and showing that
when we are all up and about together, we are a good football side that
has a lot of potential .Slapey at CHB was given a job to do and did not
let us down he played the perfect backmans game giving nothing away all day
Bowie along side Slapey also had a great game finding plenty of the ball.
Another positive was the return of Greeny in to the forward line after a couple
of weeks off finishing the day with 6 goals . Award winners Cameron
Slape (Tony Egans Mensland), David Green (Somerset Hotel), Matt Bowman (Bompas) and Matt Faulkner (Beachport Hotel) There
were many other players who had good games making it a great team effort all
round well done boys. Lets see if we can finish off the year with another win
this week when we take on Tant.
The Calcutta votes last week went to Mat Faulkner first, and David
Green and Matt Bowman tied in second place.
With our Junior Colts and numerous netball teams making the finals it
would be great to see a strong show of club support at the finals, by all
supporters wearing their club polos. If you don’t have one see Jill or
Kinga.
Last week saw Casey Grosser win the 100's club $100.
End of season presentations will be held on Friday 17th Sept for the
Seniors starting at 6.30pm. See Sara or Jill for tickets. Junior presentation
will follow on Sunday 19th starting at 11am. Please bring along a plate of
savoury and sweets to a pooled for lunch.
Junior forum: Wed 18th if you received an invitation to this night where
you have the opportunity to have your say please make sure you reply to Loretta
by this Sunday 15th Aug.
