The Noosa Tigers booked a week off and a vital home final with a resounding 7 goal win against a very gallant Mayne in Brisbane last week.
The Tigers meet Sunshine Coast rivals Maroochy northshore this Saturday at Weyba rd in the final fixture round of the season knowing full well a win would certainly boost the groups confidence going into a week off.
The tigers were badly beaten by the Roos in sluggish conditions earlier in the year but much has changed since then. Noosa have yet to lose a game since and have grown into a fierce, fast and skillfull unit winning their past 12 games convincingly. I`m sure senior coach wayne Fletchers biggest headaches will be at the selection table on Thursday night as up to 4 senior players may be due for a recall for this final home and away round. Trompf, Mc Kittrick, Guinan and Burke are all in the Noosa side's best 23 or 24 players so competition for spots is red hot.
Panaho, Eady, Matthews, Isles and Spring were great again for the Tigers in their win against mayne whilst the super impressive Boydle at full back continues to show what a handy pick up he has been for the club in 2010.
A massive weekend of footy at Tigerland and abroad this weekend starting with the Doug Murray cup from 10am where the Noosa Legends face off against the Noosa rebels in what should be a very entertaining contest. Names like langan,Smith,Maloney,Jaques,Tindal ,Hahn and Southern face off against the rebel greats in Vagg,Hedley,Nolan,Hilder,Stewart and Dover in honour of long time Noosa and Nambour football manager and life long football person Doug Murray.
Following this ,our reserves must win against the 3rd placed Roos and hope that Palm beach beat Cooly for a spot in this years finals. All the best to Jas sherriff, Crossy and the boys.
Senior game starts at 2pm and whilst win,l ose or draw, the Tigers will remain top of the tree and gain the vital first week off, I`m sure they`ll be out to prove to their rivals why in fact Noosa sit on top of the PHC ladder.
Our tiger cubs travel down to the Western magpies to play for a spot in the State leage Under 18 grand final on Sunday which is a huge occasion. The tigers have gained a double chance after finishing equal top and go in to the game with plenty of confidence having beaten the Magpies in Brisbane only 3 weeks ago.All the best boys.
Sunday is our Under 8s and 10s carnival which is fun for all concernred.Plenty of action and rides for the kids and a day not to be missed.
Don`t forget Tuffy from 6pm on Saturday night at the club as a part of our back to Noosa bash. What a weekend.Don`t miss out!
The Long island cougar of the year award is hotting up at a very interesting time of the year with not much separating our leading 4 or 5 players.Durdin,Boydle,Isles and Eady were all in the mix against mayne last Saturday remembering that this award runs well and truly into finals.Much interest in what is just an awesome prize to the winner.
Go tigers
