Knights News Presidents Report
Congratulations
to the 2010 Under 10 teams whose seasons finished on Sunday with the completion
of the MSJFL Under 10 Lightning Premiership. Once again the club hired marquees
for those participating. A great day was had by all who participated and for
our Under 10 boys and girls this is traditionally a great way to finish the
season. On Sunday we also had a team from the Under 9’s participate in the
Under 10 Lightning Premiership. The division we were hosting at Lucas had an
uneven number of teams. So as to avoid a bye the MSJFL gave us the opportunity
to field a team. Thanks to Julian Battistella, his parents and players for
taking this opportunity and extending their season by a further week. Despite
the age gap the tem made it to the semis in a great effort to be beaten by the
eventual winners. A great day was had by all.
There
are a few more things to get done before the year ends so please keep an eye
out for the following events;
- Team Photographs
August 8th Greg Miller is taking the photos this year. Please
ensure that you are not late for your appointed time. Team managers please
ensure all players are aware of their time to turn up for photographs.
- Coaches and Team
mangers meeting date has been scheduled for Tuesday night August 24th.
Venue and agenda will be sent closer to the date. If there are any topics
coaches and team managers would like covered please email Mick Ahearn or
Lewis Bearman
- Grading selection
review meeting will be scheduled after the season has finished and finals
have been played. The grading selection review meeting will be open to all
club members as we seek your views and feedback before embarking on the
2011 grading process.
This
week the finals begin for age group from Under 11 to Under 13. EMJFC has teams
participating in finals at Under 11 and Under 12. We wish all coaches, players,
officials and parents the best of luck. This week is also the last round of
home and away fixtures for Under 14 through to Under 16. This week at Lucas we
are lucky to have our 2 Under 16 teams follow each other for the first time
this year. Our Under 16 Division 2 team plays Dingley at 12.00pm to be followed by the Under 16 Div 1 team playing St Peters
at 2.00pm. This is a great
opportunity to come down and see both Under 16 teams play their last home and
away matches for 2010 and support the oldest boys teams we have at the club in
2010. Hopefully we will see enough players return in 2011 to field an Under 17’s
team in the competition
To
all players and parents please ensure that the reputation of the club is one of
competitiveness and fairness both on and off the ground. Parent behavior is the
cornerstone of a successful club. It is not just up to the Team Managers. At
all times ensure we respect our opposition and the umpires. The league will be
vigorously enforcing parental controls during the finals; it would be a shame
to miss your son or daughter playing due to unacceptable comments or behaviour.
Please
remember to keep up the good work on and off the ground and enjoy your
participation in the EMJFC.
