Well we had the cut lunch and water bag trip down to Langhorne Creek where conditions were pretty good for football.
The
under 14’s started the day well for us with a good 4 goal win which
keeps alive their chance of playing finals this year. The under 17’s
unfortunately came up against the top side. However, it is a credit to
our boys for giving it their best and the signs are good for the future,
keep going lads as your day will come.
The Reserves had another
good win showing a good standard of team play which I hope puts them in
good stead for their finals campaign. We have a good blend of senior
players mixed with the young ones who apparently do all the running.
Even
though the ‘A’ grade score board suggests it was a one sided game, I
believe the signs are good for our future. Everyone is aware we have a
very young side, predominantly local boys, who give it their best every
week but it was obvious Langhorne Creek have bigger, stronger bodies but
they are aging and will step aside to let our youth take over.
There are 4 minor round games to go, the next 3 at home, so lets get behind our teams and support them as best we can.
Just a reminder that Saturday the 7th of August is our Life Members & Sponsors Day starting about 3 p.m. for drinks and finger food. Hopefully we can all enjoy the day as a Club.
The Seniors Presentation Lunch
is on Sunday the 26th of September starting midday for a 12.30 p.m sit
down lunch. This day includes the under 17’s, Reserves and ‘A’ grade
players and their families. Life members and sponsors are also welcome.
It will be held at the McLaren Flat Community Club. Tickets will be
available at our Football Club for $40, which include a 3 course meal
catered for by our Major Sponsor, THE BARN.
Go Eagles!!!!
