Alicia Eva appointed to AFL Victoria Youth
Girls State Coaching Panel
East Malvern’s Youth Girls Coach, and 2009
Victorian Youth Girls Captain Alicia Eva, has been appointed by AFL Victoria to
the Selection and Coaching Panel for the inaugural AFL Under 18 Youth Girls
Championships to be held in Melbourne. The appointment follows her successful role as Coach of the Eastern
Division Team in the recent AFL Vic Metropolitan Championships.
Alicia joins Coach Andrew Jago (AFL Vic
Victorian Country Assistant Youth Talent Manager), Shannon McFerran (five-time
Helen Lambert medalist, Victorian Captain and 2009 All Australian Captain and
Chyloe Kurdas (AFL Vic Female Football Development Manager).
The AFL Youth Girls Under 18 Championships
will be held in Melbourne from September 7-12. AFL Victoria will field two
teams this year – a Victorian representative team and an additional development
team. Other States to enter are NSW/ACT, WA, QLD and SA.
Matches will be played at Trevor Barker
Oval Sandringham and Craigieburn.
Seven East Malvern JFC players have been
invited to the selection trials: Kate Maqueen, Kristen Hay, Brianna Green,
Elyce Hay, Amelia Thompson, Kathleen Fahey and Rebecca Whittaker.
This is a great opportunity for all our
East Malvern Girls and highlights the pathways and opportunities that are
available for girls in football.
In 2010, the East Malvern JFC continues to
be a leader in the development of junior footballers.
