The Junior Colts score was Hatherleigh 8.10
(58) def Kalangadoo 3.2(20). Best player awards went to Benjamin Lang (Duckys),
Thomas Chant (Pete Walters), Brett Watson (John Cavanagh’s), Brad Wight (Gary
Nilsson), Jed Telfer (HFC Ladies Committee) and Ben Leopold (HSRC Steak).
The Senior Colts showed some spirit and gave themselves
every opportunity to win. They applied good tackling pressure all day with all
players contributing. Even though they went down by 4 goals in the end it was a
enjoyable game to watch. The awards went to Sam Telfer (Seebohms), Cameron
Slape (KAOS), Darcy Bateman(John Cavanagh R/Estate), John Thorpe (Gary
Nilsson), Fergus Slape (HFC Ladies Committee) & Mason Bunt(HSRC Steak). Tom Schulz & Aden Bell both played well & Daniel
Sutherland was good early. Thanks to Chopper, Wato & Greeny for filling in
& playing well with Greeny kicking the first 2 goals. Let’s hope the boys
apply the same pressure against the Burr & give themselves every chance of
a win.
Have you heard Matt Ballantyne
kicked a goal? If you haven't you have been lucky so far because he
hasn't caught up with you yet ! We started with a few positional changes
in The Reserves which saw Warney to full forward, Matt to forward pocket and Driza
to centre half back which must of worked as Warney kicked 5 goals, Matt was in
our top 3 awards and Driza was best on ground with a polished
perfomance that helped set up a great win! We had plenty of players
willing to work hard, put their head over the ball and play like a team which
meant we had plenty of the ball and were able to finish the day with a
good win. Thanks to the senior colts who continually help us out at the last
minute and apply themselves in a manner that they and the club should be both
proud of and excited about as they become regular senior players. Great effort
by all players! Today we travel to the 'Burr' and if we play to our
capabilities should be able to stay on the winners list! Good Luck!
A big thank you to Luke Green who put his hand up
to boundary umpire the B Grade last week, after having played his own junior
colt match and helping the senior colts out by playing that game also.
The A Grade final score was Kalangadoo
19.22 (136) def Hatherleigh 9.4 (58). Award winners were Matt Fabris, Tylah Saunders, Travis
Kneen and Saxon Ellis.
This week we would like to thank
the following sponsors who donate the weekly awards in the A and B Grade
football – Tony Egans Mensland, Somerset Hotel, Bompas, Beachport Hotel,
Beaurepaires, Millicent 4WD Systems, Dave Reilly’s Panel & Paint and Grand
Hotel. Please remember to support these local businesses.
Next week we play Robe at home
and we will have Rebecca McLaughin's band playing at the club. It is
our last home match for the season so stay around and enjoy a couple of home
grown very talented musicians.
Sunday 8th Aug is our Family Day. Our very own legends will entertain us
both on the netball court and on the footy field. The day starts at 11am and
there will be a BBQ lunch, so come on out and make a day of it. It will be an
opportunity to catch up with lots of club people who we don’t always see at the
club.
We will be hosting the Preliminary Final (Sept 11) this year so have a
think about what times you will be available to help and contact Matt
Ballantyne, Sara Gray or Kinga in the near future.
A couple of reminders: Succession Planning (Wed 8th) and Junior forum (Wed 18th). Have you let Loretta know if you will be attending?
Good luck to all teams playing today as we head to Mt Burr!
