It was slightly overcast but not a hint of rain, and Blacktown Olympic Park surface was in good condition as our under 18s took on Pennant Hills at Blacktown.
The Demons raced out of the blocks with four quick goals in the first 10 minutes, but the Bombers slowly but surely worked their way back into the contest to trail by 10 points at quarter time.
The second quarter saw the Bombers get plenty of the ball and create a multitude of scoring chances, but some poor finishing would cost them dearly. The defence tightened, holding the Demons goal-less for the quarter; while the Bombers scored 1.7 for the quarter to lead by a point at the long break.
But it all went pear-shaped for the Bombers in the third term. Too many turnovers cost the Bombers dearly; while the Demons, unlike the Bombers in the second term, made the most of their chances with 7 straight goals. At the last change, despite the Bombers having had more scoring shots, the Demons led by 33 points.
By then the Bombers' heads had dropped and their resistance had gone. The Demons scored 6 goals for the quarter while the Bombers could only manage one. It's been a long time since a North Shore Under 18s has been so badly beaten; but they will be looking to train hard and bounce back in next week's battle for top spot against East Coastl
Final Score - Pennant Hills 18.5 (113) def North Shore 6.11 (47)
