This week we thank Nathan Bellinger Hay contractors, Rivoli
Bay deli, SE Pasture Renovations, Elders, Total Floor Finishing, Techwool
Trading, Sebastapol Machinery and Above Average Fisheries for their generous
support. Remember to help them out when doing your business.
On August the 4th (6.45 - 9pm light meal supper
included) a succession planning workshop is being offered to all clubs.
It is in our clubs best interest to have a good representation as the planning/
roles and responsibility of committees is vital in the growth and strength of
all clubs. It is inevitable that members will move on and new "blood" will be needed. How do we replace them, what
is the best way to achieve this with minimal disruptions and what do we do when
we get there? This workshop is to be facilitated by Ken Solly who has
asporting / administrative club background, and this evening is aimed at
helping clubs and individuals to change and /or improve. Please consider
attending even if you are not currently on a committee, as one day you may well
be! Please advise either Sara Gray, Kingsley or Loretta Breeding if you
are interested in attending.
The Junior Colts had a good win last week defeating Kongorong 9.12 (66) to
1.3 (9). Award winners were Brad Wight, Brett Watson, Luke Green, Thomas
Chant and Lewis Walker.
It was another tough day for the
Senior Colts. It was pleasing to see some different players putting their hand
up and getting a few kicks. Hopefully over the coming weeks we can have more
than the usual six playing well and who knows we might even win one! The awards
went to Sam Telfer, Tom Waring, Aden Bell, Fergus Slape, Mason Bunt & Tyler
Snook. Cameron Slape was reliable as usual & Dylan Clough showed glimpses
of how good he could be. This week I would like to mention the generous
sponsors of our Junior and Senior Colts awards each game, Seebohms, KAOS video,
John Cavanagh Real Estate, Gary Nilsson, Pete Walters, HFC Ladies Committee and
the Hath Sp&Rec Steak award. The continued support of these great sponsors
is much appreciated and I am sure the recipients also enjoy getting these
awards each week.
With a frantic rush to find players due to late withdrawals
in both A & B grade teams the Reserves left the rooms a little under prepared.
However we started the game full of running and played like we wanted to win
but yet again our lack of training showed and the Hawks run over the top of us.
With the evergreen 'Stinger' battling hard in the middle he was providing
opportunities for the players around him including a spritely young
Mark Gray ( It could have been mistaken for a legends game ! ) but we
failed to convert on the scoreboard. Dan's mark at centre half forward bought
back memories of "Carey" at his best! Well done Dan.
Thanks to the senior colts and Mark for helping us out at such short notice.
Award winners were M Nettle (K&S Ampol), M Gibson (Dave Reilly’s), T Kneen
(Grand Hotel) and S Redman (Beachport Hotel). Today we host Kalangadoo in what
should be a great game as they will be hoping to turn around the result from
our last encounter. Let's enjoy our footy, play to our potential and have a
good win! Good Luck!
Unfortunately for the A Grade the form from the previous weeks
game did not come with us to Kongorong. After an even first half we could
not keep up with the opposition and allowed the scoreboard to blow out in the
last quarter handing Kongorong an easy win. We played well in passages
throughout the day but our endevour and hard work from the week before seemed
to be missing. When things are not going as planned we need to lift our voice
and continue to work hard all over the ground to lift each other and work
our way back in to the game. Award winners were Dale Fabris (Somerset), Jase
Bateman (Beachport Hotel), Tylah Saunders (Bompas) and Mat Bowman (Prince of
Wales) Looking ahead this week will be
another big test taking on Kalangadoo but on our home ground I am sure we can
bounce back and work towards another win.
The
season end is fast approaching and it would be great to see as many as possible
stay for tea after each home game. The girls in the kitchen do a great job and
each week to provide a variety of well priced meals, so stay around and enjoy the
company!
