NEWTOWN & Chilwell couldn't care less that victory today would deliver another body blow to the shaky top-five hopes of St Joseph's.
As far as the Eagles are concerned, it's all about playing the type of football they've waited the best part of half a season to produce.
In a frustrating season, Eagles coach Simon Sutterby cannot help but look back on his side's fractured opening nine rounds and wonder what could have been if the stars aligned.
Finally, after three straight wins, his side is starting to string together consistency, thanks largely to key players striking form and a steady injury list for the first time this year.
Driving that resurgence has been back flanker Rob Condy and the hardness of vice-captain Brock Bouch around the ball.
"Earlier in the year we were having three, four, five players in and out every week, but since then we've pretty much had the same group and that's probably been the biggest difference," he said.
With Leopold expected to beat St Albans today, a Newtown & Chilwell victory would see St Joseph's again drop one win outside the top five.
"We're not necessarily focused on where the Joeys are going to finish, to be honest, it's all about us, our brand of footy and developing our players and developing our team," Sutterby said.
"That's what we'll be focusing on and if we can meet our KPIs and if we reach the standards we want to and come away with a win, we'll be rapt, regardless of where the Joeys finish to be honest."
