The rain started just as the Under 17’s begun and didn’t let up all day. The boys had a slow start but really got thing moving in the 2nd quarter piling on 6 goals to nil. This really set up the win, as the weather really set in and put a stop to many scoring opportunities, and while they could only manager another 2 goals for the day, they were able to keep Elmore to no score after the 1st quarter. The Coach’s would have been happy with the boys endeavour, and this win puts them 1 game clear into 5th spot. Best Players: M. Wright, B. Tanner, M. Kent, J. Adlington, C. Bice, J. Russell
The 2’s continued their good form with another solid 4 quarter effort. It was never going to be a pretty game, with the wet slippery conditions. It was a matter of the whole team keeping pressure on the opposition and getting some sort of score on the board—and this they did. With the last 3 games of the season to be played against the top 3 sides, the boys are looking forward to the challenge and continuing their winning run into the finals. Best Players: Spitty (rucked all day and did a lot of in and under work as well) Jordan (worked hard around the packs all day) Barney
(continued to uses the space to the teams advantage), Bowlesy (kept the ball moving fwd), Tuddy (another hard working at ground level) & Gravy (controlled the back line with his ever reliable team of backmen)
And what a win it was for the Seniors, really showing the rest of the league they can beat any team on their day. Again it was a really good start kicking 6 goals to 1 in the 1st quarter which set up the win over the highly fancied Bloods. It was always going to be a battle to maintain the lead, but the boys dug deep and with some great pressure all over the ground, held the Bloods to 5 gaols for the day. While a 3 goal lead at 3 quarter time, normally may not be enough, with the conditions getting worse as the game continued, this was more like a 6 goal lead. The crowd was very tense during the last quarter as the Elmore team continued to attack, but the backline held steady and when the Hillies kicked the only goal for the last quarter, the crowd erupted and after the game the team song was sang with great gusto. This win really puts the team in with a big shot of now playing finals. Best Players: Dave, H.,Scotty, J. Griffin,Beggy,& Matty (along with the whole team who all played their part)
Today will be a mini final for the Seniors with a must win over the Mounts boys, before we have a weekend off with the Bye.
