Welcome
back to football after the school holiday break. I hope that all the people
involved with the Mighty Knights had a safe and happy break and enjoyed their
time away from football. It is amazing where the year goes and the term break
means we are almost at the end of another season. There is one more week of
matches for the entire club so it is appropriate we have a club night this
Sunday night. We will be announcing a player of the month awards and have some
great raffle prizes as well.
From
Sunday the 25th July we begin the run into Lightening Premierships
for the Under 9’s and then Under 10’s followed by a staggered finals fixture
for our teams from Under 11 through to Under 16’s. Please check this link to
see the relevant dates for your age group. https://websites.mygameday.app/assoc_page.cgi?c=1-4901-0-0-0&sID=165186.
It
was after Round 4 this year that I first raised the issue of an expanded
committee. Unfortunately I have not had
any approaches to fill these positions. With the substantial growth we have
experienced within the club over the last number of years the time has come to
expand your committee. The growth in the number of teams and the number of players
has meant that some of the critical roles have grown to a size where they
require more hands. As everyone is aware the committee is made up of volunteers
and we need to ensue that the workload is spread evenly amongst committee members.
As
such we have decided to split the football operations role and the registrar’s
role into two committee positions. This will allow Mick Ahearn and Noel Scully
to have some well earned assistance with these two very important roles. This
will also allow us to expand your committee by two members and share the
workload of the club. We are therefore looking for mums or dads to join us in
running this great club and planning for the future. I don’t know many of our
new parents especially at the younger age groups but I strongly encourage all
parents to seriously consider joining the committee and having the satisfying
experience of contributing to this fantastic club. Remember the committee and
therefore the club does not run with out YOU! Please call me and we can meet to
discuss your interest in contributing in 2011.
There
are a few more things to get done before the year ends so please keep an eye
out for the following events;
- Team Photographs
August 8th
- Coaches and Team
mangers meeting date TBA
- Grade selection
review meeting date TBA
To
all players and parents please ensure that the reputation of the club is one of
competitiveness and fairness both on and off the ground. Parent behavior is the
cornerstone of a successful club. It is not just up to the Team Managers. At
all times ensure we respect our opposition and the umpires.
Please
remember to keep up the good work on and off the ground and enjoy your
participation in the EMJFC.
