On July 3rd Huntly Football Netball Club had the pleasure of hosting their first Hawks High flying Luncheon in their new social rooms. The event was hosted by Alan Besley, who conducted interviews throughout the lunch with, Mark Linford, director of Elmore Oil, match day sponsors and Huntly Senior Coach, Daniel Geary.
Guest Speaker on the day was legendary AFL player Peter Knights. Knights spoke of his playing career at the Hawthorn Football Club where he played 264 matches and was an integral part of Hawthorns premiership wins in 1976,1978 and 1983. Knights spoke of the changes he has seen in the game over the years and the commitment required of players today.
Knights is still involved in football, coaching the Victorian Country Football League at the Australian championships in Canberra later this month.
The luncheon was well attended by sponsors and supporters of the club who enjoyed a 2 course lunch and a free gift of Elmore Oil.
Peter Knights was presented as the Number 1 Ticket holder of the Huntly Football Club for season 2010 by President Ian Sladden. Knights said “It is great to come and help out the Huntly Football Club in its endeavours to lift the support both on and off the field.”
