Legendary VFL player Terry Daniher came from a farming background where he grew up in Ungarie, NSW. He was recruited to South Melbourne in 1975 and later traded to Essendon in 1978 where he played most of his career 294 games.
Daniher won premierships in 1984 and 1985. He was captain from 1983 – 1988. He was one of 4 brothers to play for Essendon. Daniher has been the recipient of awards such as Best and Fairest and leading Goal kicker. He has been named All Australian on 4 occasions and Vic Rep 3 times. His career highlight was in 1990 playing State of Origin between NSW and VICTORIA, “beating the Vics was a grand moment” said Daniher.
Huntly Football Netball club was pleased to host Daniher at a recent training session. He took training from Junior level right up to the Seniors. Later signing autographs for players and supporters before enjoying a meal back in the Social Rooms where he addressed players and supporters.
Terry Daniher is the VCFL ambassador for Grass Roots Football. Visiting local clubs and passing on valuable knowledge and skills.
