Firstly, a huge thank you to Pat Lawlor who agreed to have
his chest publically waxed last Saturday night in the name of raising funds for
Mens Cancer Awareness. Over $1000 was raised on the day and our players and
generous supporters also deserve to be congratulated for supporting and getting
behind such an important cause. Thank you to Staci Faulkner and Lynda Chant who
carried out the waxing as kindly as possible! A Special mention also to
Annabel and Georgina Brooks and Zoe Barclay who went around the club with
donations tins and didn’t allow anyone to "escape", well done girls.
Last week we invited Junior and Senior colt parents to the clubrooms
after their respective matches for award presentations and a cuppa. We will be
doing the same again after the Kalangadoo matches next week and we hope to see
a few more parents in supporting their boys and we invite the junior netballers
along to do their presentations also.
The Junior Colts played some really good team football in the early game
and in difficult conditions were able to post a comfortable win. Brett Watson
and Luke Green dominated all over the ground, and Tom Gilbertson stood tall in
defence. Brady Gibbs and Brett Watson both finished with three goals each. Best
players were Brett Watson (Ducky’s),
Luke Green (Pete Walters), Tom Gilbertson (John Cav Real Estate), Brad Wight
(Gary Nilsson), Brady Gibbs (HFC Ladies Committee) and James Gilbertson (Hath
Sp&Rec Steak).
It was another big defeat for the Senior Colts, although the game started
well with two early goals. The awards went to Brodie Davis (Seebohms), Tyler
Snook (KAOS), Sam Telfer (John Cav Real Estate), Cameron Slape (Gary Nilsson),
Tom Waring (HFC Ladies Committee) & Kieren Agnew (Hath Sp&Rec Steak).
Mason Bunt again was a target up forward & battled well all day, John
Thorpe was competitive in his first game back and Darcy Bateman looked good
early until he went off injured.
With our season on the line in the Reserves we were greeted with the
worst weather for the year so far. However with the weather being windy and wet
we started the game with more determination and willingness that has let us
down in previous games, Hainsey was at his normal best, putting his head over
the ball and body on the line numerous times (if only a few of the
other blokes took a leaf out his book), Darcy Bateman in for his first
senior game for the club was providing a good option up forward and Trav was
controlling the ruck contests but again we had too many with hands on their
hips shaking their heads because things weren't going their way and we let
the game slip. Best players were Luke Haines (Beaurepaires), Trav Kneen
(Millicent 4WD systems), Ryan Bowering (Dave Reilly’s Panel & Paint) and
Tom Motley (Grand Hotel). We must be prepared to work hard, start
believing in ourselves and start enjoying our footy for things to change !
( The A grade showed what a little self belief and hard work can achieve. Well
done Guys) Today we take on the hawks. Let's try to enjoy our footy, work
hard, believe in each other and play to our capabilities to show our
supporters what we can achieve! Good Luck!
GEE WIZZ what a great game from the the boys in the A Grade
on Saturday! In some of the most testing conditions so far this season
we had a great team effort to record a good win over Glencoe. We put
in our best four quarter effort for the season so far and on a good
winters day we played hard and fair football reaping the rewards for being
first to the ball and playing in front. Our skill level was exceptional in the
conditions and with everyone contributing on the day with plenty of voice
and pressure around the ball it made a massive difference. Throughout the day
there were many great passages of play and many great individual efforts which
lifted the whole team and set the standard for the day. Congrats men on a great
team effort, lets make sure we carry this form in to next week working hard and
see if we can take the points again. Carn the Eagles!
As always we ask our supporters to remember our generous
sponsors when conducting their business. This week we thank: Argyle Hill
Livestock, Beachport Corporation, Chay/Merrett Livestock, Reily's Paint &
Panel, Fosters Foodland, Gary Clifford Auto Repair, John Cavanagh Real Estate,
K & S Fuels, Millicent Farm Supplies, Millicent Tyre Centre and MOD
Cleaning for their much valued support.
