Hope everyone enjoyed the bye last week! Today we
host Glencoe and tonight after the match Pat Lawlor has agreed to have his
chest waxed in order to raise money for the Cancer Council Awareness Round. The
aim is to raise funds to assist with mens cancer research. Your
pledges of support will be gratefully accepted at the club either on Thursday
and Saturday (tins will be available) or speak to Kinga. Pats Wax off will
take place at the club at 8pm.
'Compared to women, Australian men are more
likely to be diagnosed with cancer and less likely to survivetheir
diagnosis'. It is vital that we all rally behind the Call To Arms fundraising campaign to
help raise awareness and support this important cause. This is an
opportunity for everyone to get involved in the campaign through
their local football club by attending matches, donating to fundraising
events or by wearing a yellow armband during the leagues designated
weekend of July 31st. Money raised through the Call To Arms
campaign will help support men in need by contributing funds to the Cancer
Council's important cancer research, prevention and support programs. To

Round 11 saw us travel to Pt Mac and the Junior
Colts started the day in cold, but fine conditions against an in form Pt Mac
team. The boys were second to the ball in the first half and were unaccountable
down back and throughout the midfield. They were fortunate to still be right in
the game at half time, and came out after the break with better attitudes, but
were unable to get the win in a tense final term and went down by a point. Best
Players were Brad Wight, Brett Watson, Rory Whittaker, Luke Green and James
Barclay.
It was another sad day for the Senior Colts,
the boys started well but fell away late in the first quarter & never
recovered. The awards went to Mason Bunt, Sam Telfer, Cameron Slape, Brodie
Davis, Fergus Slape & Samuel Waring. Thanks again to Brett Watson & Tom
Chant for helping out. Looks like the senior & junior colts missed Dylan
Montouri’s rebound of the half back line!
The Reserves were greeted with sunny skies and only a slight breeze
which was pleasing considering the forecast was a little different. We started
the game off well but fell away after quarter time and were beaten by a much
more determined team. If it wasn't for Charlie and Matt Ballantyne we
could have been beaten by a lot more as they continually repelled Port
Macs attacks. Ryan was battling hard in the middle, Hainsey was trying to set
an example for the rest to follow but we continue to have too many passengers.
Today we tackle Glencoe in what is a must win game so let's not let ourselves
and our supporters down and come away with a good win ! Good Luck! Best players were Justin Winter, Ryan
Bowering, Matt Ballantyne and Luke Haines.
Our trip to take on one of the ladder leaders turned out not to be one
of our better games so far this year for the A Grade. Pt Mac back after a
couple of weeks of had their foot to the floor right from the first bounce and
showed why they are one of the top sides there run in numbers and good use of
the ball had us on the back foot all day. Luck for us our back six held tight
all day and worked hard to stop many forward movements. We had some great
4 quater efforts from some individuals Greeny contested hard all day to be our
best and Beggsy along with Sneathy provided some good drive from defence.
Tyler, Josh and Mat Fab also worked tirelessly throughout
the four quarters running hard all day. Congrats also to first gamers Pegs
coming up from the seconds and 15yr old Sam Telfer although these
boys had limited opportunities on Saturday both are more than capable of
playing at this level, and telf at only 15 yrs of age has a lot of footy and
huge future ahead. Best players were David Green, Brett Sneath, Simon
Beggs, Tylah Saunders and Mat Faulkner. With the week off we have had to
regroup, move forward and prepare to take on Glencoe at home. Boys the games we
have won have came from hard work in all 4 quarters and having every one of the
21 players on the day switched on contributing. Lets get back on the
winners list today and prove to ourselves that we can do it.
Last Friday night we hosted "Dipper" at our Sportspersons
night. Thank you to those who came along and supported the club and enjoyed a
very entertaining evening and scrumptious meal. It was fantastic to
see so many new faces to the club enjoy such a wonderful evening. Once
again we had a special group of senior colts who waited on tables and did a
fantastic job. Thank you Joseph Brooks, Fergus Slape, Sam Waring, Brad Wight
and Cameron Slape. Well done boys we really appreciated your efforts and we
hope you enjoyed the night. Thank you to the ladies in the kitchen
(Di Wight, Yvonne Duckworth, Lorrie Faulkner, Annabel Breeding, Jill Sutcliffe
and Loretta Breeding) who served a delicious roast meal kindly donated by
Mayura Wagyu Beef. This is the second year in a row that Mayura have
supported our club in such a way and everyone on Friday
evening absolutely raved about the quality and taste of the
Wagyu roast. A huge thanks also to Melissa Kneen who did a fantastic
job with dessert. Congratulations to Trevor Rayson who won the raffle, of which
first prize was two nights accommodation at the Caledonian Inn Seafront cottage
in Robe. Brian Skeer as our second prize winner took home 5kg of shark fillets.
Last weeks winners for the 100s club were Bob & Refo $100 and Dave
Reilly for the stubbies, however not present so jackpot. Phil’s Wheel winner
was Sharma Ballantyne $28.
