Sydney AFL’s divisional structure sees North Shore’s teams playing at two separate venues on Saturday. The Under 18s and seniors are in action at Olds Park, while the reserves are in a twilight match at Macquarie Uni.
The Matches
10:00am – Under 18s Premier Cup v St George at Olds Park
2:10pm – Premier Division v St George at Olds Park
4:30pm – First Division v Macquarie University at University Oval.
The Venues
Olds Park
Olds Park is on Forest Rd, Peakhurst.
Head to Lane Cove Road and turn south. Continue straight ahead along Homebush Bay Drive. You will pass the Olympic complex, Flemington Markets and Rookwood Cemetry. Keep going straight ahead. After a couple more name changes, the road becomes King Georges Road.
Keep going past the M5 turnoff through Beverley Hills shops. After the shopping centre, turn right into Stoney Creek Rd. Do not continue to Forest Rd as there is no legal right turn from King Georges Rd to Forest Rd. Once on Stoney Creek Rd, continue to the end and turn left onto Forest Rd. Olds Park will appear in a couple of blocks on your left. Parking is available on site or on Forest Rd.
If you’re going to the Premier Division game and it’s a sunny day, bring a hat or sun visor. The clubhouse and the hill are on the eastern side of the ground, so in the second half you could get the sun in your eyes.
University Oval
Move north up Epping Rd. Continue past the Macquarie Centre turnoff, and turn right at the Shell service station. At the end of the street, turn right and continue over the bridge over the M2. University Oval is at the end of the street. There is ample parking available on site.

Our Opponents
Our under 18s who were with the club last year will remember St George, our opponents in last year’s grand final. The Dragons will again be contenders in the under 18s. 2010 hasn’t been kind to St George’s senior team, but they are sure to come out firing at a venue they know well and where our Premier Division team hasn’t played at since 2007; and our teams will need to play good football. Both the under 18s and seniors had good wins when North Shore played St George at Gore Hill earlier in the season.
The First Division side will need to play well to defeat Macquarie Uni’s senior team. But our reserves match up well against them, and came back strongly during the earlier meeting at Gore Hill to go down by just one point.
Online Coverage
Score updates will be posted on the website from the Under 18s and Premier Division matches during the day; and also from the second half of the First Division game – it will probably take about an hour to get from Olds Park to Macquarie Uni.
Photo galleries and scorecards will also be uploaded after the games.
Reminder – Red and Black Ball
If you haven’t yet RSVP’d for the Red And Black Ball, get in quick as places are filling up fast. It promises to be a night of fun and festivity, including the naming of North Shore’s Team of the Decade. Several greats of the club will be in attendance hoping their name will be read out.
It will be held at Gore Hill Oval on the evening of Saturday 17th July – check the article on this website for further details.
