A crisp, wind free day perfect for football and what a great day for us winning four from four! A big thank you to all those who give their time to volunteer in any way to make our home matches go smoothly. It is hugely appreciated by our club. Thank you to those who came to Op Shop night. Some great outfits and I hear the night only got better and better! Check out website for latest Op Shop photos. On a personal note, I would like to sincerely thank the club for wearing armbands for Sue Murdoch (Roger’s sister -in-law). It meant a hell of a lot even if he couldn’t get the words out. Thank you for being such a community minded and brilliant club. We’re proud to be a part of it.
Junior Colts - The boys started off the week with on of the best trainings and continued it into Saturday. It was good to see the boys tackling and putting on shepherds and the voice was unreal. We were first to the ball and moved it on well. It was a great team effort. Go you little Demons!
Senior Colts – The boys took 10 minutes to get going but once they switched on and got going, they played excellent team football. Our ball use was awesome and it was good to see people running to space and using their voice. Although they didn’t get into the best players, the younger fellas that stepped up and ensured a total team effort were, in particular, Ben Wilke, Brad Chant, Jordan Stark and Nick Driver. The backline was lead well yet again by Darcy Kemp, James Feast and Josh Wilsmore who provided great rebound in addition to stopping many opposition attacks. All on-ballers lead by Brodie, Johnny and Zeitzy were well on top of their opponents. Excellent to see Nic Allen perform well in the ruck but more so around the ground to pick up kicks at will. Forward line worked well with Mat Stark playing another strong game. Good to see first gamer Clem Smith providing options and attacking the ball hard. Let’s see how we react against a tougher opponent where our total team effort will have to be applied to be competitive.
B Grade – A great win to the boys after two weeks off. Whole team effort. Great performances went to Steven Devine, Matt Sull, Ben Holmes, Justin (Krusty) McCrostie, Gus McGregor, Izak Ranson and Paully Bosko. “Goodie” copped a sprig mark to the face for his efforts. Good to see the boys willing to work for each other and back each other up. Let’s get on the track ready for next week. Go Bay!
A Grade – A fine win boys. After three weeks with no football, we were fresh and ready to go with most of our injured guys back to being available. The skills were a little rusty, but the team work and work ethic was very good. Hatherleigh certainly were not going to make the contest an easy one and the game was hard fought. The score board really didn’t indicate how tough the contest was with goals being hard to come by.
Will, once again was very dominant, with Trev (Adam Taylor) playing probably his best game for the year so far. Jordan (Jodie) Murdoch played some different roles to great effect. Tobei Kennett was great in defence as were all of his team mates, especially Ryan and Matt Fox. Rohan Povey dominated his wing and Marc Dalton kicked another bag up forward. Great to have James back and see him dominate early and get through the whole game. Picking best players was extremely difficult which only emphasises the even team effort so great work guys.
Today we take on Glencoe on their home turf. Always a tough road trip and this week will be no exception. Go the Demons! Keep on kicking.
