Panton Hill captain Will Box led the team out last week in his 150th senior game on a very wet and muddy Panton Hill ground against The Parkside Devils who earlier in the year had made us look very ordinary at their home ground. Will Box is a wonderful local player who has not only been a leading light for Panton Hill for so many years but is also a former league best and fairest player and is in career best form this season.
The game started well for the Redbacks with the first couple of goals, but in the conditions it was always going to be a slog and a difficult task for the forwards. The Hills kept their noses in front all day with a lead of 2 goals at the final break. Parkside came home strong but the Hills held them out for a hard fought 3 point win. One of the smallest players on the ground, Shane Hodgson, found his feet for the Hills picking up plenty of possessions around the packs and chiming in for a couple of goals. John Byron was once again the link man through the middle whilst Will Box did his usual down back. Other contributors included Stephen Northrop feeling more comfortable up forward, Jason Mee on the wing and Brendan O’Connor strong again across half forward after a sensational game the week before.
That’s six in a row for the Hills with a trifecta of wins against the other top three sides in the four over the last 3 weeks. The Hills will be looking to consolidate its position in the top four NEXT WEEK with another HOME game against The South Morang Lions who will fancy thier chances agaisnt the Redbacks

RESERVES
The reserves had a point to prove against Parkside at home last week. The previous meeting between the sides was regrettable, with Parkside knocking the stuffing out of a disappointing Redbacks side. This time, in very wet and muddy conditions, the Hillers always looked in control, and ground out a strong confidence-building win to notch up their second win for the year. Jason Hendry led the way for the Redbacks, notching up possessions all over the ground, and setting up attacking plays, well aided by Jay Gilmore who played on after receiving a heavy knock to the head. Coach Jayson Burleigh pulled the boots on for his side for the second week in a row and led from the front doing a lot of hard work around the contests and winning the ball for his team. Other stand-outs on the day were Dylan Collins, Kyle Coffey, and Benn Wilson. The side will look to last week’s performance for inspiration to take on South Morang NEXT WEEK at HOME as the reserves look to follow the senior’s example
