Last week the Under 17’s came up against the undefeated Locky side, and they showed our boys why they are sitting on top of the ladder. They are a very impressive unit, but to our boys credit, they battled hard all day, and on what was good conditions for footy, kept the Locky boys to a reasonable score. The back line really showed some character and never gave up. While a defeat is never easy, if the boys continue their intensity today they are sure to reap the rewards Best Players: J. Reddish, B. Ansett, M. Kent, M. Smith, and O. Geary
The 2’s had another really good win. With the Locky boys being undefeated , the boys knew they had a big task on their hands, but after the win against Heathcote the week before , they had a belief in themselves and this showed with another good first quarter to set up the game . A couple of good inclusions in the team with Benny and Shaun certainly increased the teams skill level, and in turn other players lifted as well. The win would have to rate as one of the best wins the 2’s have had for some time, but in saying that, will mean nothing if they don’t go on with it and really show they are capable of playing consistent good footy each week. With the 2nd round starting today the boys will need to improve on the 4-4 win lose ratio to get into the five and today is where it starts. Best Players: J. Begg (set up many of the fwd moves), D. Bray (continues to play good consistent footy), S. Makepeace (good inclusion with 3 goals), T. Curtain, B. Jones, B. Thornton
Unfortunately the Seniors cannot get a good 1st quarter going and therefore continue to play catch up football. While Locky certainly showed why they are in the top 3 teams, the Hillies showed in the 2nd quarter what they are capable of , playing some good quality, intense play-on football and getting back into the game. But, they were unable to continue this in the 2nd half and Locky drew away. The scoreboard was probably not a true indication of the 2nd half, as the boys battled on, but we couldn’t get the score on the board and of course this is where it counts. Better players on the day were: Matty (battled hard all day in the ruck and around the ground), H improving each match with some strong marking), Jim (continues to impress on the half back line and using his pace to set up attacks). Dave (always plays with a never say die attitude), Jason and Scotty
