Congratulations to all the young lads who participated in the Naracoorte Junior Carnival held on Sunday 13th June. The U/14
representatives included Brett Watson, Thomas Chant, Dylan Montouri, Luke Green, Brad
Wight and James Gilbertson. Mason Blunt represented the the U/15s and the U17 representatives were Tom Schultz and Sam Telfer.
Also, congratulations to
Mat Faulkner for his 200th game against Tantanoola. A wonderful result for the
fitting champ he is!
The Junior Colts started the day off with a good win against a much smaller Tantanoola
side. The boys dominated the play all game but yet again inaccuracy let us
down. The team still managed to post their best score for the year and come
away with a comfortable win. Greeny dominated at centre half forward with 6
goals and Jed Telfer finished the game with 4. Awards: Luke Green
(Ducky’s Surf), Brett Watson (Pete Walters), Dylan Montouri (John Cav’s), Brad Wight
(Gary Nilsson), Jed Telfer (HFC Ladies Committee) and Sarah Allan (HSRC Steak).
The Senior Colts put in a solid four quarter performance with every player
contributing in some way. Although well beaten on the day they had the
satisfaction of knowing the Tantanoola boys will be running laps at training for not
reaching their target. With the threat of giving their awards to the netballers
the players started the game well, restricting the opposition to four goals and
also creating opportunities up forward but unfortunately not turning them into
goals. Brodie Davis had a good game, Josh Fabris was
solid in defence with some great tackling pressure and Luke Green always seemed
to be where the ball was. Sam Telfer battled it out to the end and was
determined to push the ball forward in the last quarter where we capitalised
with 3 goals. Awards: Aden Bell (Seebohm), Dylan Montouri (John Cav’s),
Cameron Slape (Gary Nilsson), Mason Bunt (HSRC Steak) and Dylan
Clough (HFC Ladies Committee).
Hoping
to get back on the winners list in the Reserves after a disappointing showing
at Robe we hit the ground pretty confident we could beat the Tigers, however we
were soundly beaten by a more determined and much quicker team than we
were. Trav did his best to repel many attacks and Jarmo was in his best
form of the year. With the Bowering twins in everything, we should have
been closer but we had far too many passengers and with players coming
back we all need to lift our work rate to keep our spot. Awards: T.
Kneen (Beaurepaires), S. Uotila (Millicent 4WD Systems), R. Bowering (Dave
Reilly’s) and T. Motley (Grand Hotel). Today we host Nangwarry in what is a must win game to get our season
back on track. To use a phrase heard at our last game " GEE WHIZ "
(Sorry Faulks) we better work hard and play well today or we are wasting
our hard work from earlier in the season!
Another great effort from the A Grade on
Saturday to make it two wins in a row. With both teams keen to get a win we had
to work hard to get the points and with the last quarter our best for the match
we were able to pull away from Tantanoola and secure the win. We played some good
football again and continue to improve each week showing that if we work hard
and work together we will get the desired result. With everyone
contributing throughout the day there were some great individual efforts as
well. Greeny had a day out, kicking 5 goals and working hard all over the
ground. Aden, along with Hoffy, had their best games for the year. Awards:
David Green (Tony Egan’s), Mat Faulkner (Somerset), Aden Bell
(Bompas) and Tylah Saunders (Beachport Hotel). The win has helped keep us in
touch with the the middle of the pack and if we can sneak another couple of
wins we will be in with a good chance to battle it out for that fourth spot. On
a personal note, thanks to everyone at the club for all of your support and
kind words on Saturday! Cheers from Mat.
Last weeks Calcutta winners were: Mat
Faulkner, Tylah Saunders and David Green. 100's Club winner was Joe
Bradley ($100) and Tim Loveday won 1.5 cartons. The Phil’s Wheel winner was Demi Smith ($25).
