The Under 17’s started the day off well with a big win. The boys took a little while to adjust to the conditions, but soon learnt to just keep pushing the ball forward until they had a clear run and then kick long into the forward line. Ollie finished with 9 goals in a good performance. Other good players were: M. Kent, M. Wright, R. Wridgway, R. Hall, and J. Russell. Today the boys tackle the undefeated Locky boys. They will need a big team effort and if they continue their endeavour from last week, no reason for them not to come away with a win.
The 2’s played their best game for the season with a gutsy win over the higher ranked Heathcote. The 1st quarter was crucial, with the weather setting in and the ground becoming heavier. Although only up by 1 goal at the first break, the boys knew they were on top and except for some undisciplined play in the 3rd quarter, they played well for most of the game. They really finished off the game with 5 goals kicked in the last quarter and all goes well to take the momentum into today’s game. It was the more mature players who headed the best players: Gravy, Thorno, Poops, Darren, Jordan & Noodles
The Seniors came up against the undefeated Saints, and in the 1st quarter you could see why, as they ran rampant leaving the Hillies boys in their wake. While the boys improved their performance in the 2nd quarter, there was some soul searching words from the Coach at half time, with the boys really having to dig deep and get into the game both mentally and physically. The 2nd half was a major improvement, with a lot more run from the boys and more belief in themselves. They took the Saints on, took their chances and actually outscored them in the 2nd half, but the 1st qrt lead was too much. Today is another big game against Locky, and it would be great for the boys to finish off the 1st round with a win. Better players last week were:
Jason, Matty, Parkes, Griffo, Frecker and a good performance by Rhys Irwin in his 1st Senior game.
