This Saturday the Tradelink Western Magpies will take on Morningside in Toowoomba @ Heritage Oval 2pm. The game is a Western Magpies home game and is being played in Toowoomba as the club moves to lift its profile and establish links in the city. AFL Darling Downs is now part of the Western Taipans zone and the region has great potential to become a major recruiting pool for the Western Magpies.
The match will take place at 2pm Heritage Oval, Stuart St Toowoomba and is closest to the Stuart St and North St intersection.
The QAFL match between the Western Magpies and Morningside will be the culmination of a full day of football fixtures with AFL DD Juniors matches starting at 8.30am and an AFL DD Senior match the curtain raiser at 11.30am between University AFC and Highfield AFC.
The Tradelink Western Magpies will be supporting the match by sending players to a local Auskick session on Friday afternoon and attending Toowoomba Crows U/18 training on Friday night and a lucky University U/10 player will be selected to be the Western Magpies Mascot for the day.
Headed by former AFL Darling Downs junior and Western Magpies utility James Rozynski, Club Development Manager Anthony McDonald and Jackson Allan (AIS Academy Member), Bryan Dragus (Injured US Recruit) and Greg Friis (Injured Senior Player) will all be attending Fridays visits.
The group will be attending an AFL Auskick session at Toowoomba Grammar at 3.30pm on Friday afternoon before attending training with the Toowoomba Crows at 6pm at Rockville Park where James Rozynski and Jackson Allan will train with the Crows.
The lucky Western Magpies Mascot will be involved in the teams preparations and warm up before leading the Magpies out on to Heritage Park to take on the Panthers.
