A great win from the boys against a determined Oakleigh side. It was a close contest for the first three quarters, but a seven goal to three last
quarter got us over the line. Oakleigh jumped us in the first quarter kicking three of the first four goals but we managed to settle down and went in at quarter time only five points in arrears. The second quarter was a bit of an arm wrestle with neither side able to gain the ascendancy. Fordy took five marks for the first quarter and looked like continuing that in the second. Lille returned to his homeland with a good first half, while Laz was racking up possessions on the wing.
We kicked the first couple of goals in the second half and appeared to have broken the visitors. But Oakleigh kept coming back and with a height advantage on the forward line, managed to kick a few late goals to keep them in the game. I am reliably informed that we did not receive a free kick in the third quarter which makes the effort even more meritorious. The midfield led by Browny, Chis and Morro had lifted and we were set for a big last quarter.
With a two goal breeze at their backs, the magenta and black began the last quarter with plenty of run and determination. Goals to Vossy, Browny and Critta appeared to set us up. But again Oakleigh refused to go down and after kicking a couple of late goals, they had a sniff. But the Bloods prevailed in a tense last five minutes.

ONE68 MARK OF THE DAY - A number of contenders here including a couple from Mase, the 200 Gamer. His strong grabs in front of the scoreboard were match winners and a sign that there is plenty of good football still to come from Mase.
But the general consensus was that Stowy's mark in the last quarter, up there with Chis' from last week, was the mark of the day. A classic speckie at an important part of the game. Well done Stowy.
BUXTON GOAL OF THE DAY - Vossy kicked four for the day and also kicked the goal of the day and some may say the goal of the year!! Hemmed in on the boundary at the playground end, he managed to evade at least six Oakleigh defenders, and from a millimetre inside the boundary, did not look like missing. A great goal and a great Buxton moment.
MAIN ST CAFE MAN OF THE MATCH - Laz was the recipient of the Main St Cafe Mordialloc prize for best Bloods player on the day. He was out to play for the bro in law and put in a ripper. Plenty of other players were stiff not to get the chockies as it was a good even team effort. Our thanks go to Corey down there at the Main ST Cafe in Mordialloc. Next time you are down that way, pop in and say hello - http://www.mainstreet3195.com.au/
It was a Siapantis sort of day with John taking out the raffle. He is going to look pretty snappy in those compression garments! Our thanks to Vossy who kindly donated the prize. Check out the 2XU site and see what Vossy does while not kicking goals for the bloods!! http://www.2xuqld.com.au/

The Seconds were a chance for an upset victory for most of the day but failed to convert numerous opportunities. They actually had more scoring shots than Oakleigh who were more accurate.
Joel Hanlon got amongst the goals after taking some strong overhead marks. Brin Jones was our best player with numerous clean and telling possessions.

The U/19s went in at half time behind by 30 points but were in the game after having kicked the last two goals of the half. But their fitness
was found to be lagging in the second half and the Ormond lads ran away with it in the last quarter. The boys continue to play with plenty of
spirit which is very commendable.
Jack Steen was strong at CHF while Kingy, Case and Rhys McMurray were again solid contributors.
