We move into Round 8, and the divisional structure in Sydney footy sees all our teams taking on different opponents.
On Saturday afternoon, our Under 18s take the short trip to Riverview to take on St Ignatius. On Sunday, our First Division and Premier Division teams are in action at Blacktown Olympic Park.
The Matches
Saturday 2:15pm – Under 18s v St Ignatius at Riverview First Field
Sunday 12:00pm – First Division v UTS at Blacktown Olympic Park
Sunday 2:10pm – Premier Division v Campbelltown at Blacktown Olympic Park
Directions to the Venues
St Ignatius Riverview is on Tambourine Bay Rd at Lane Cove.
From River Rd, turn south onto Tambourine Bay Rd and enter the school grounds at the end of the road; and you will spot their sporting fields. Riverview First Field is the one with AFL goalposts.
To get to Blacktown Olympic Park:
If your car has a tag and you don’t mind paying tolls, the M2 & M7 will get you there very quickly. Take the M2, continue along the M7 until the Power St exit. Turn left and follow the street till the end, and turn right at Knox Rd. After the road crosses over the railway line, take the next street on the right (Eastern Rd); you will see the ground from there.
The M7 does not accept cash tolling, so if you don’t have a tag or don’t want to pay tolls, the M4 is now toll-free. Head west and join the M4, and take the Walgrove Road exit. Turn right and continue past Great Western Highway. A couple of kilometres up the road, turn right at Eastern Road, this is signposted by a blue Blacktown Olympic Park sign. The ground will soon become visible on your left.
If you’re going by public transport, allow plenty of time. Trackwork between Blacktown and Penrith will require you to change to a bus at Blacktown. Continue two stations past Blacktown to Rooty Hill. Take the southern exit, walk down Rooty Hill Road and turn left at Eastern Road.
Although the match is at Blacktown, it is designated as a North Shore home game; and our club has responsibility to operate the canteen and BBQ. If you can help out, please report to Alan Lees or Liz Fitzgerald on game day.

Our Opponents
Both Riverview in the Under 18s and Campbelltown in Premier Division have had up-and-down seasons and are sitting outside the top 5 on percentage. Our under 18s got out of jail against East Coast last week and the Premier Division fell just short; but both will find themselves pitted against determined opponents this week.
Our First Division enjoyed a big win last week, but have a tough test ahead against defending champions UTS. The Bats are sitting in second place, but with our reserve grade team in good form this has the makings of a good challenge.
Online and Television Coverage
The Premier Division match will be televised, with a one-hour highlights package to be shown at 6:30pm on Friday night on Main Event (Channel 518). DVDs of the game can also be purchased from Digitial Sports.
Score updates will be posted on the North Shore website on game day, with photo galleries and detailed scoreboards to be uploaded after the match.
