The first quarter saw the Razorbacks take charge of the game; the Swans tried hard to counter attack but couldn’t score. At the first break saw the Swans 0 trailing the Razorbacks, 4-3-27.
The second quarter belonged to the Swans with some outstanding on-field displays. The defence stood strong and with the midfield getting the ball to the forward line we were able to outscore the Razorbacks with them only kicking one goal while we kicked three goals and five behinds. So at the half time break the score was a more respectable Penrith 3-5-21 to Camden 5-3-33.
Out came the teams for the third quarter in what was turning into a brutal match with both sides hitting hard and never taking a backward step. The two teams were finding it hard to score in such a ferocious match. By the end of the quarter the Razorbacks increased their lead, outscoring the Swans 13 to 6, with a score line reading Penrith 4-5-29 to Camden 7-4-46.
Phil, Darren and Steve must have certainly got into the boys heads during the last break because they came out for he last quarter with all guns blazing and gave such a display of football that it had the crowd roaring with excitement. Our boys played their hearts out and didn’t let the coaching staff or the supporters down, powering home to the final siren eventually winning by 9 points, with the final score being Penrith Swans 8-7-55 to Camden Razorbacks 7-4-46.
This game had it all, from bone crunching hits, great handballing and long kicks.
Both teams played the game hard and fast as it should be played and had the supporters on both sides screaming and applauding for more.
You as a team should be proud of yourselves with the way you played and we, as your supporters applaud you, as a team that has a never give up attitude and keeps fighting right up till the end of the game.
The goal scorers were Anthony Leech 4, Jonah Hammond 2, Justin Eckford 1, and Jack Wagner 1.
Once again congratulations to the Under 16s players and coaching staff.
Wayne Noble.
