In magnificent autumn conditions, it was soon clear that the Bloods had come to play.Morro and Chis were fantastic early and Fordy was proving a focal point up forward. Combi was in top gear and Chelsworth Park was looking less like a fortress. And while we jumped them early, the second quarter was where we asserted our authority, kicking six goals to two. Corey Millard, abley assisting by Stef Erikson, Hammer and Stowy, was leading the defence like a veteran.
There was a period in the third quarter where the wobbly boots came out and the home side were able to get the ball out of the middle and kick goals. But this was short lived and we still won the quarter - more than matching the five goals kicked by Old Ivanhoe. Clarkey was enjoying himself, while Dougy and Whitey were getting plenty of the footy. Fordy and Vossy were continuing to get amongst the goals while Skipper Brown was racking up the possessions. The locals never seemed to work out that Browny, Laz and Critta are lefties, but let's keep that a secret!!
So we went into the third quarter huddle with a 39 point buffer. The strong and loyal following clearly sensed victory and the animation was contagious. So was the footy with the mighty Bloods really doing what they liked in the last quarter. Six goals to one in the last and it is good night nurse. The cabin was brimming with magenta and black, Clarkey was ceremonioulsy doused in the cordial and footy was a great game again!
Well done to all involved but let's now make it two in a row when we take on Oakleigh.
