A good day at the Bay with 3 wins from 4. No wind and beautiful sunshine gave both sides an opportunity to play good football. We would also like to thank Robe for leaving their change rooms in spotless conditions unlike the team we played on our first home game where it was left vandalised and filthy. We finished the day with our very cultural Undie 500, which saw many get their ‘kit’ off that had the crowd either murmuring in admiration or fleeing for their lives!! Some sights there that I never want to see again – to the loin cloth an ex- president wore to the backless jocks! (Check it out on our website) Many of our children will be scarred for life! Back to the footy – we have Tantanoola today so, Go the Demons!
Junior Colts – The boys played another solid game and came away from the game with a good win. The centre work has been excellent and it is getting the team off to a good start. Their ball movement around the ground has been a huge improvement since round 1. Jordan Stark was hard at the footy all day and was named best. Tom Sullivan found the ball at will again and Tom Zeitz had a heap of the ball, finding plenty of space around the ground. Tim Sullivan presented well at CHF and Riley Chant kicked 5 and rucked very well all day. Liam Kemp found himself in the right spot and took some good marks around his flank. Good luck this week boys.
Senior Colts – A poor performance well below our normal standard. Robe worked a lot harder and played with confidence running in numbers. The only positives to come from the game was the continuing improvement from our backline players. Brad Chant clearly won his position and showed a cool head under pressure, as did Trent McCarthy. Josh Wilsmore showed great spirit after his opponent scored four goals in the first half, and then held goalless in the 2nd half. Brodie gave his all and found plenty of the footy. At the end of the day there was not enough contributors and not enough spirit. Let’s see how we react against a tough opponent in Tant.
B Grade - Good win by the boys. Robe’ boys couldn’t get through our backline, with our centre men delivering prefect kicks to our new recruit from the A Grade (Jimmy Martlew). We were an unbeatable side on the day.
A Grade – Our second home game of the year saw us host the other seasiders, the Robe Roosters and in what was a typically hard game between the two sides, the Bay emerged victorious. Never at any stage of the game did either side gain the ascendency as is usually the case and the full 4 quarters were definitely needed for the win. Best players went to Big Will who was fantastic all day, second best went to the young bloke Zack down back and the third went to Dexy (Steven Noble) who does not stop running all day. Other mentions were Martos (Mathew Martin), Ryno (Fox), Tobei and Pothole (Matt Fox). Tantanoola this week and another hard game away so we will need to be on our toes to stay in the winner’s circle. Keep on kicking boys!
