Pines Club Notes Round Six 2010
Big weekend at home last round with a solid 4 goal win for our seniors and our reserves getting home by one. Thirds continue to struggle but at least were fielding a team each week even though some are only 15 and 16 years old. It’s obviously hard playing against boys of a couple of years older. Stick to it though fellas. The highlight of the senior game was the combining of Gordon and his two sons, Beau and Guy in the same team. A check with fellow league historians confirms that a father and two sons in the same senior team has never been done before. Well done chaps. Well done also to Shaun White with 8 snr goals. Hassan Kiki was the last Pines player to kick at least 8, in 2006. Your scribe was targeted with the question of why aren’t more of our sponsors being shown in the club notes. A very good question for our sponsors are an integral part of our club being successful or even existing and we thank them for their interest and input. Sponsors names will certainly be shown when this column is supplied with a requested list, hopefully coming soon. Our club website does show a number of sponsors if you’re into websiting, not everyone is, but then not everyone is into buying a footy record either. A recent survey showed that only about one-third of people through the gates actually buy a footy record. Yes, gone are the days when you would see just about every bloke walking around with a record sticking out of his back kick. Have a gander at our website, for there are now lots of great history pages etc and again we thank Adele and Ralph for their work. “Back to School” fun tonight. The bell rings at 7 pm and you get let out at 11.30, so be good and don’t give the headmaster Mr Tedge any cheek. Chris Bartczak today plays his 100th club game. Well done Bart. Karingal, here we come.
The Last Bud.
