Saturday, May 23 is our Annual Sponsors Day. Thank you to all our very generous sponsors, without all your support and assistance our
club would not be viable, so as players and supporters we owe you all many
thanks.
As part of our sponsorship each year the opportunity to
have your sign displayed on the score board goes into a draw. This years winner
is Dave Reilly Panel & Paint. Dave and Kay have been huge supporters and
workers for our club over many years and it is great that this year their
sponsorship takes pride of place. When doing business try to remember our
sponsors and support them as much as you can. This week we also thank Millicent
Farm Supplies, KAOS Video and Total Floor Finishing for their generous
sponsorship.
The Junior Colts continued their good form resulting in
another big win! Awards: James Gilbertson (John Cav's), Dylan
Montouri (Pete Walters) Luke Green (Gary Nilsson), Rory Whittaker (HFC Ladies
Committee) and Tyson Bennett (HSR Steak).
After a disappointing first half the Senior Colts turned
it around after half time with many players making a contribution and not
leaving it up to the usual few. The team was a little unsettled with the loss of three backmen over the last two weeks but hopefully a win is just around the corner.
Sam Telfer had another great game in the centre and many times linked up well
with Tom Schulz, Kieran Agnew & Cameron Slape with some great passages of
play. Fergus Slape did well in the backline and Daniel Sutherland was a ball
magnet on his wing. Joseph Brooks put a smile on every one’s face with his last
quarter mark and goal. Aden Bell had a good game on the wing and Tom Waring
was a target up forward. Awards:Sam Telfer (Seebohms), Cameron Slape
(KAOS), John Thorpe (John Cav's), Mason Bunt (Gary Nilsson), Tom Waring (HFC
Ladies Committee) and Daniel Sutherland (HSR Steak). The ‘Smithy’ went to Cameron Slape who had a quiet start but created many opportunities for
the onballers and battled hard all day in the ruck.
Bright sunny skies greeted the Reserves as we took on Kalangadoo at
their home ground. With a FIGHTING fit Jimmy Reiman included in the side we were
confident of a bold showing. We let them get the first three goals before we got
going and when we played to our potential we played some very good football.
With Crab on fire up forward he finished with six majors and was well supported by
Finchy with six (I pity the poor staff at his work this week) we were able to kick
a winning score. Rodders was controlling the backline, Chanty was causing havoc
on the wing with his speed, but in a very good team effort best players were hard
to find as everyone contributed in some way. Awards: Scott Redman
(K&S Ampol), Chris Chant (Dave Reilly's), Luke Haines (Grand Hotel) and Matt
Chambers (Beachport Hotel).
A great day for football at Kalangadoo and the A Grade were keen to continue on with the winning form from the week before. Our
first half of football was great and our best so far this year we were doing
all of the hard work chasing, tackling and working in numbers to the
contests. With everyone up and going working together we were able to put the
score on the board and take a couple of goal lead heading in to half time which
could have quite easily been a couple more. With the momentum with us we were
able to come out after half time and break away with some more exciting football
and put Kalangadoo under some real pressure. Mid way through the third the the
game became a bit out of control and the men in white did us no favours
unfortunately we were not able to holt Kalangadoo and headed in to the last
quater needing a big effort to take the points. It was not the case in the
last and Kalangadoo showed why they are one of the top sides running away with
the win. It was a great effort by the boys getting more consistent over the four
quarters proving we are not going to be the easy beats some people believe we
may be. Lets look ahead this week and have another big crack at an inform Mt
Burr. Awards: Tylah Saunders (Somerset Hotel), Matt Fabris (Beachport
Hotel), Sam Fitzgerald (Millicent Golf), Dale Fabris (Bompas) and Brett Sneath
(Prince of Wales).
Calcutta results were 1st Brett Sneath, 2nd Tylah
Saunders and 3rd Matt Fabris.
One of our players duties each week is to ensure that the
change rooms have been left clean and tidy. Showing respect for not only our
home change rooms but also those we visit. Our players have this year also been
given the task of cleaning up the visitors rooms at the end of the day and have
been rating them as well. Pt Mac were outstanding a few weeks ago with a 9/10,
Kongorong however rated only a 1/10. We remind all players in every grade
to pick up after themselves and check they have all their belongings.
Finally all players, supporters and members wish Chris
Chant a speedy recovery. We hope his injuries heal well and that we see him
out and about at the club in the very near future.
