The Tweed Coast Tigers have embarrassed the defending premiers in a 1 sided clash at the Tigers potential future home ground Round Mt on Saturday to go even further ahead on the Summerland League Table.
The Tigers rolled out their strongest team for the season with nearly a full strength squad to choose from and left an under strength Byron scratching their heads looking for answers from the first bounce.
In another herculean performance Wilson rucked for nearly the whole game and proceeded to dominate the Leagues number 1 ruckman Floyd. His combinations with the onballers including Johnno, Jimmy, Arnold, Jai and Ash was a pleasure to watch, the performance earning him the Players player award for the round.
The Tigers fitness is becoming a real issue for the other teams in the league and this can be attributed to a cracking training program set in place from Coach Shags and Fitness trainer Paul Charlesworth. Round Mt ground is huge and the Tigers ability to cover the turf and keep turning up to contests is proving unstoppable. Once again the delivery from the ruck and onballers provided nearly 50 scoring shots and the tide of possession saw big Roundy bag 8 goals. All the forwards sent goals through the big sticks, wiht Arnold baggin 4 and Bolty on the wing proved himself a dangerous asset bagging a goal.
On the few occasions that the ball got past halfway the Tigers back six were solid as a rock led by Arty and Timmy and the ability of the halfback line to rebound into attack is proving a handful. The only negatives for the Tigers was inaccuracy in front of goals which could off proven even more devastating to the scoreboard for Byron. Big thanks to all the Tigers volunteer support and Club President Col, for putting together such a great day for all. Also thanks to the team support staff and of course the home crowd who travelled out to Round Mt.
