Perfect conditions at Melbourne High on Saturday but the boys only just managed to get over a determined Melbourne High School side.
Indeed half way through the last quarter the hosts were less than a goal behind and appeared to have the momentum. But a skipper's goal from Browny and some timely possessions from Critta and Robbo, saw off the late charge. The marking attributes of the Mclauchlan brothers was also decisive when it counted. Nick Harrison made a solid return to senior football, while Vossy was again fantastic, bagging six goals on the day.
The Buxton shirts were prominent once again at the post match "discussions" as the throng debated what to make of the win. It wasn't overly convincing but you are always pleased when getting the four points. We are now three from five and return to McKinnon this Saturday against an Old Carey side who recorded a surprise win over St Kevins. So they will be confident and hence we need to bring our A Game to cement our spot in the top four.

RESERVES
The day got off to a great start with the Reserves recording their first win for the season. Mase bagged six in a gutsy win for the boys. They were behind for most of the day, hit the front half way through the last quarter and then held on despite the desperate efforts of the High boys. Brock's Brigade will take a lot of heart from this victory and there are more wins in store. It was only the narrowest of margins but a determined and deserved one nonetheless.

UNDER NINETEENS
In a day when forwards were prominent, big Al Nicol kicked five goals for the U/19s in their battle against Hampton Rovers. It was a spirited outfit that took on Rovers and the final deficit of 22 points probably flattered the home side. Taggs also got amongst the golas and Kingy and Adam Schofield were amongst the best.

SCHOOL FIRST XVIII
The school side went down by 10 goals to top side Wesley - a very polished outfit. It has been a pretty tough start to the year but a win isn't too far away. Next week the guys take on Xavier at Haileybury - always a big game.
