On Saturday May 8th the Mt Burr Community Hall was transformed into an evening in Hawaii. Pots of tropical green palms greeted you at the entrance to the 2010 Mt Burr Formal red carpet event. More than one hundred and fifty party-goers came through into the Hawaiian decorated space and partied the night away within the lively tropical atmosphere of the evening.
The newly refurbished clubrooms had a ceiling of frangipani flowers hanging overhead and large hand painted flowers, palm trees and sunsets pinned along the walls. Several hula skirts also swung above amongst the fairy lights.
Brightly coloured lei’s were available for sale at the door and by nine o’clock everyone had flowers around their necks and others came with flowers in their hair.
With recent alterations there was plenty of room to dance on the massive dance floor with ample seating at the tables decorated with beautiful tropical flower & coconut basket centre pieces created by Millicent florists. The extra tiled space at the bar was well utilised and it was comfortable for all as the pool table has been moved to another area of the hall.
The raffle of the night was an iPod shuffle which was won by local identity, “Mrs Brads”.
The organizers were pleased to see many young people from other clubs and towns come and enjoy themselves in our friendly venue. Mt Burr Football Club has a strong Healthy Clubs Policy and pride themselves on offering safe entertainment.
Security was provided at the door and our guests were all very understanding of our no alcohol in or out policy. Last drinks were called at one am and everyone left happy after a rousing rendition of “Hell its Good Out Here!”
Thank you to Millicent Taxi’s for taking our guests home safely.
