Last weekend the lads trekked up the 403 to try their luck in the Brian Dunkin cup, a pre season tournament. The tournament itself is designed for clubs to have a good hit out, and trial their new players / rookies out before the real fun begins in round 1.
The ‘Cats had the Dingos first up (their round 1 opponent) and managed to field a full 18 out there. The Dingo’s on the other hand were struggling for numbers and had to pull on some hawks players to fill their squad. The ‘Cats ended up running out victors with everyone playing a “solid game”, but the coach Justin Johns felt they still had more to give if they wanted to compete in the regular season.

Next up the ‘Catters took on the Rebels in their second and what would be their final game of the day. Hamilton managed to only dress 14 players for the game, while the Rebels were able to dress a full 18. This was then how the game was played out. Funnily enough, this game was the better of the two for the boys from out of town. New recruits Furlan and 'Steppo' proved they will be very handy additions this year, while Johns and Hill (if he can keep his temper in check) were both working hard and handy all over the ground. Being 4 MEN DOWN, the cats only lost in the end by 1 point! A very gutsy and proud performance by the boys and I take my hat off to you.
Rebels 3-1-19 def Hamilton 2-6-18
This weekend the boys head back up the Humber North to take on the Dingos in ROUND 1 of the regular season!! With record numbers at training this week and Aussies fighting for positions in the side, it's clear to see that the ‘Cats mean business in 2010. The game starts at 11am and if the past games between these 2 clubs are anything to go by, it's going to be a pretty hard, intense game of footy!! Looking forward to it!!
