Our club was saddened to learn of the passing of Lionel Beale early last Saturday morning. Lionel was a life member and long-time faithful servant of the North Shore Football Club, having held a number of club and Sydney football positions over the years. Lionel is best remembered for his role as timekeeper, a service he performed for 30 years from 1975 to 2004. Lionel's infectious enthusiasm for the game will be sadly missed by all at North Shore.
Lionel will be farewelled this coming Friday, 7 May, at the Magnolia Chapel, Macquarie Park Crematorium. The service will commence at 2.10pm sharp, as did the games for which Lionel kept time for so many years. All friends and supporters attending the service are encouraged to wear a splash of the North Shore club colours. All current club players and officials will wear club jackets.
A request has been received from the Beale family that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to the Northshore Football Club (BSB 062 151 A/C # 10119828) for the Lionel Beale U18 Scholarship that will be awarded at our presentation evening later in the year. When making your donation please include your name and LBS in the description area. This scholarship will be a one time memorial to Lionel and the Lionel Beale Perpetual Trophy will continue annually in his honour.
Thank you for your support.
