North Shore travels to Sydney Uni this weekend to take on the Students. It’s a Friday night clash for our Under 18s, with the reserves and seniors in action on Saturday.
The Matches
Under 18s v Sydney Uni – Friday 7:30pm
First Division v Sydney Uni – Saturday 12pm
Premier Division v Sydney Uni – Saturday 2:10pm
The Venue
Sydney University No 1 Oval is centrally located in the University campus. The university is on Broadway, between City Rd and Missenden Rd. When entering the campus from Broadway opposite Ross St, the first oval you will see is the Number 2 Oval. Move around this oval and you will see the Number 1 Oval – it has a grandstand, light towers and AFL goalposts, so you can’t miss it.
Paid parking is available on campus, check the signs carefully for when and where charges apply. Free on-street parking is also available on Broadway on Saturday, but note that the left lane on each side of Broadway is a bus lane and a clearway until 7pm on Friday night so parking is not available there before that time.
If travelling by public transport, plenty of buses from Central pass the university campus; also it is within walking distance from Redfern and Newtown stations.

Our Opponents
Sydney Uni were re-admitted to Premier Division in 2007, and have come close to making the finals every year since then. So far this season they have won 2 and lost 1, and last week defeated East Coast Eagles at Blacktown. Since their re-admission to the top flight, Sydney Uni have never beaten North Shore, a record our senior team will need to work hard to maintain.
The Students have strong depth and field teams in every senior competition. Their reserves side is strong, and our First Division side will need to play well to defeat them. Their under 18s took out the Challenge Cup last season and were promoted to Premier Cup in 2010.
