Club Song: “We are the pride of South Toowoomba
and we wear the Red and Black.
We are courageous, stronger, faster
our commitment never lacks.
We give our best from game to game
where the story will be told.
As we fight the rugged battles
the flag will be our goal.
Our skill and nerve will see us through
if its mateship we’ve got STACKS!
We are the pride of South Toowoomba
and we wear the mighty Red and Black!”
Hopefully we will all learn the Club song so we can all sing it after each game.
Water bottles: Unfortunately we have been unable to secure sponsored water bottles at this time. All players are encouraged to bring a named water bottle, to be kept by the club, until new ones are arranged.
Jumpers: Please ensure that the jumper issued to your child is worn on game days, they are not required to be worn at training. It would also be appreciated if the correct socks and shorts with appropriate footwear be worn.
Under 8 Rules: Under 8 “Aussie Footy” is a non contact game played in 3 zones. Backs, Centres
and forwards. During a game each player will be rotated to play in each zone.
· There is no tackling – always play at the ball.
· There is no deliberate kicking off the ground.
· Players are to stay in their zones.
· Kicking and handballing are the only legal way to dispose of the ball.
· Marks are awarded if there is a genuine attempt to catch the ball with 2 hands.
· There is no barging – because there is no tackling.
Team Mates: Players and parents are reminded that “Aussie Footy” is a team sport for the benefit
of the children playing the game, on both sides. There will be games where some of our players will be asked to wear the jumper of the opposing team and play with them for a quarter of the game. Parents are asked to encourage their child to do this voluntarily, as all players will be rotated throughout the season if required.
Encouragement award certificates will be presented to a South’s player who demonstrates the following:
Trying Hard, Playing Fair &
Being a good sport
Again the presenting of this certificate will be rotated throughout the season.
