Our reserves team always finds it tough to beat ER but on Saturday the boys toughed it out to win. McInerney goaled early in the term but it was all ER after that kicking the next 4 goals. At ¼ time they led 4-1 to 1-4.
A lack lustre 2nd quarter with just one goal each. Our goal came from Mendico then Debney received a yellow card but that didn’t detract from his terrific game. At ½ time they led 5-2 to 2-6 but there was a sense that we were really in the game. Better players for the half were Jones, Greaghty, Pisano and McDonald.

COLTS FINAL SCORE
VERMONT 18-15-123 def EAST RINGWOOD 5-5-35
Both these teams have built a strong rivalry over the years with ER generally coming out on top in the big ones. We watched them unveil their flag from last year and stood wondering what this season might bring for us.
From the opening bounce Sonsie was imposing himself at full forward kicking the 1st goal and taking 2 strong marks. Our tackling and intensity was great as ER missed 4 shots. We started to really get on top late in the quarter and when Burmeister goaled we led at ¼ time by 10 points. Casterton and Smith were good early.
We kicked 5 goals to nil in the 2nd quarter. Barry-Murphy who is a huge talent goaled then assisted in Sonsie’s second. Lalor flew high to take mark of the day after delivery from Williams. Sonsie kicked the next 2 goals to take his tally to 4. Skipper Williams again in the build up. At half time we led 7-4 to 0-4. Better players for the half were Smith, Sonsie, Williams, Barry-Murphy and Pretto.
. It was an amazing 3rd quarter. Sonsie goaled early via Pretto then as if we stood still for 10 minutes THEY PILED ON 5 GOALS – it was an amazing transformation. Luckily we steadied when McCafferty goaled via Yousef then McAuley goaled. It was a good lesson for the players – a lesson that take your foot off and you can pay dearly – luckily we were well infront. At ¾ time we led 10-8 to 5-5.
It was full steam ahead in the last quarte as we slammed on 8-7 to nil. Sonsie kicked 3 more goals, Williams 2 and singles to Rodwell, Johns and Casterton.
