The Tradelink Western Magpies would have done the ANZAC's proud on Saturday in very spirited performance against the Redland Bombers. Leading at every change the Magpies were on track for a first up QAFL win before a dominant last quarter by the Bombers midfield and 4 goals to ANZAC Medalist Daniel Dzufer set up a 11.22.88 to 8.10.58. Val Pope was the Magpies most prolofic scorer in his best performance of the season which gave his team some polish and efficiency in the forward line.
Ed McDonald was once again a rock solid foundation in defence for the youngsters around him as he continued his outstanding form leading youngsters Cam Mitchelhill, Nick Ielasi and Chris Hunt by example. James Rozynski's attack on the footy was as desperate and couragous as ever and his trademark resiliance saw him continually bounce back to his feet following bone crunching clashes winning possession and driving the ball long in to attack. Chris Judson was good again on a wing and is starting to work his way into the form that saw him R/U Best and Fairest in 2009 while Richard Wenham continued his great start to 2010 his pace once again a key factor.
Down forward it was Luke Scott who was in everything as he was in rounds 1 and 2 but his scoring efficiency was down and he ended up with 1 goal as did Greg Lavey and Matt Thompson but the forwards were starved of opportunity in the final term. Gerard Moore and Dom Beer worked hard in the ruck and Moore was effective taking marks around the ground and debutaunt Bryan Dragus did enough to sugest he is worth developing in the Seniors rather than the Reserves.

Kale Reed continued his good form out on the wing picking up plenty of kick while Jye Spencer's return was welcomed as added plenty of grunt to the midfield. An even third quarter saw the Magpies take a 13.7 to 11.7 two goal lead in at 3 quarter time.
