Another great day for football at Gore Hill, with fine and warm conditions.
Our under 18s had a bye, so a scratch game was organised. No scores were kept, but the 14-a-side game was a good hit-out to keep our young guns match-fit.
Our First Division side is in action against Macquarie Uni. After being jumped at the start, the Bombers had some work to do and trailed by 25 points at half time.
But the momentum started to swing North Shore's way in the third term, with the Bombers cutting the margin to 7 points before a late Mac Uni goal gave them a 13 point lead at three-quarter time. But North Shore continued to work hard in the last quarter, and Kate Tangney's 4th goal gave the Bombers the lead. But Mac Uni scored two more goals and looked safe before Richard Lynch scored for the Bombers with 2 minutes to go. The Bombers pushed forward again, but could only manage a point, to go down by the narrowest possible margin. Final scores Mac Uni 12.8 (80) North Shore 12.7 (79).
Our Premier Division side is now in action against St George. A strong start in a high scoring opening term saw the Bombers put themselves in a good position; and at half time the Bombers led by 33 points.
The floodgates opened in the third term as the Bombers comprehensively outplayed the Dragons, and but for some inaccurate finishing could have been even further in front. The Bombers scored 5.8 for the quarter; and at three-quarter time led by 57 points. And it was more of the same in the last quarter as the Bombers assumed complete control to take out an 85-point victory.
Final scores North Shore 23.26 (164) def St George 12.7 (79).
