The Under 18s lost a match they should have won when they went down to Manly by two points at Greygums Oval on Saturday.
In contrast to recent games, the Rams dominated the opening quarter but could not put the goals on the board - instead kicking 1.8 for the term.
The inaccurate kicking continued, resulting in a final score of 4.16.
Despite this, the game remained a tight contest and the lads entered the dying stages still holding the lead.
However, an incomprehensible decision directly in front of goals resulted in an easy goal to the opposition and the win.
It was an unfortuate way for the game to be decided and the contest deserved better.
Final scores were: Opposition 6.6 (42) d Penrith 4.16 (40)
Michael Morgan's match report follows:
Last Saturday the Under 18’s showed enormous improvement regarding their “first quarter intensity” when they took on Manly-Warringah at Greygums Oval. Although the boys were all over the opposition for the majority of the match, their inaccuracy in front of goal cost themselves the four competition points they desperately needed to go 4-2 up for the season, losing 42-40.
With team captain Tayt Corless being rested, Brendan Cooke stepped up as captain with Michael Morgan filling in as vice captain.
This weekend the boys travel to Rosedale Oval to tackle a much improved Moorebank side while the Senior Grades play Holroyd/Parramatta at Gipps Road Oval.
