The two senior grades returned from Macquarie Uni today showing no return for their efforts.
Senior Grade were up against a side already guaranteed of a final four position and that reflected in the final result.
Having said that, the side battled well and had their fair share of the play during the game.
Final scores were: Macquarie Uni 23.9 (147) d Penrith 6.9 (45).
Reserve Grade were no match for their much stronger opponents, but those players who took the field put in a first-class effort for the full 90 minutes.
Final scores were: Macquarie Uni 28.22 (190) d Penrith 6.2 (38)
Senior Coach Jason Bradley's match report follows:
With the return of a few senior players to the side we were expected to give Mac Uni a good contest. What we served up to them was little more than training opponents over the course of the match.
This type of attitude and aptitude is not going to be acceptable if we want to have a chance of playing finals football. The positive to all of this is that it is only round 5 of an 18 round season so there is time for us to turn it around.
Congratulations to Jake Pianta & Tate Dimech on their debut games for the Rams. They both performed well considering the age. Jake contested very well culminating in him taking a very strong pack mark and kicking his first senior goal. Tate also did very well around the ground giving us that extra speed that we have lacked recently. This was no more evident than when he continually ran down opponents and forced errors from them.
In what was a very even performance from our guys (no one player stood out), some players tried their best but most were found wanting. We have Manly next week and with them scoring 66 goals over the past two weekends we will need to come prepared for a tough contest.
The pressure is on and we must now rise up to it if we want to improve as individuals and as a team. It is all up to you.
