The Under 17’s let the Leitchville boys dictate the game for 3 quarters, and it wasn’t until the last quarter they decided to take control. They kicked 4 goals to 1 in this quarter but ran out of time to go down by 9 points. Although the boys were disappointed with the result they should take confidence they can match it with the top side’s as long as they don’t let the other sides control the game. Brett and Macca will be hoping the boys can continue there last quarter performance into today’s game and if so, are sure to come up winners. Best players were: M. Kent, M. Smith, C. Jones, R. Irwin, J. Adlington, and O. Geary
The 2’s started off there game a lot better then previous weeks. It makes a big difference when you can get a good start and apply some scoreboard pressure. It was a hard fought game with both teams having good passages of play. The forward line played much better this week with 5 players getting 2 goals each. With Spitty and Jon taking some good marks and crashing the packs, the crumbers in Cody and the 2 Britto’s made the most of their opportunities. The back line again did a good job, and Poops added some experience to the centre structure. With Leitchville 9 points up at the last change, the boys had to put in a big effort, and to their credit they kicked 3 goals to 1 to get their 1st win of the season. Best players were:
Spitty, Poops, Jon, Britto(Jarod) & Gravy
It’s been a while since the Seniors were able to win 2 in a row, and it was a hard fought game with Leitchville very competitive. With such a large playing area to cover and being quiet warm , it was going to be a big ask to run the game right out. It was a very tight contest up until ½ time. The Hillies had a really good 3rd quarter kicking 7 goals to 2 to give them a 4 goal buffer. Leithville came out hard, early in the last quarter getting back to within 1 goal, but the Hillies steadied and put 5 goals on the board for the quarter ( possible should have been more but for inaccuracy). Some of the boys were running on the spot at the end of the game, but still giving their all and recorded a good team win. While they are all aware there is a lot more work to do, there is certainly a growing confidence among the playing group. In a good team effort, the better players were: Wrighty (Dave), Parks, Matty, B.T, Jason. Curtain & Ash
